WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A chilly, but fun indoor event in Luzerne County brought families out to the Mohegan Arena in Wilkes-Barre Township Tuesday evening.
The US Marine Corps held the event as part of their annual Toys for Tots Drive.
The event featured ice skating, Christmas music, and raffle prizes.
Attendees had the unique opportunity to skate on the arena's American Hockey League regulation ice.

All participants had to bring was a new, unwrapped toy or make a $5 contribution to Toys for Tots.
"This is really a once-in-a-lifetime type of experience for a lot of younger kids either hockey fan skaters or or just kids looking for a new adventure. There's nothing like skating here at the Mohegan Arena, Casey Plaza," said Mohegan Arena Marketing Manager Justin Topa.
"It always feels amazing to be able to collect a toy from somebody in the local community, and then later on during distribution be able to hand that toy directly to a child," US Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Justin Eckersley explained.
The open skate night has been an annual tradition at the arena for nearly 20 years and usually brings in around 300 toys for the organization.
