STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — New additions to the Monroe County Courthouse were revealed on Tuesday.
The project started with preliminary planning back in 2018 and construction began in 2021.
The project architect and manager say the biggest challenge for the project was keeping the courthouse open and functioning while also closing certain areas during construction.

"Just making sure that we could keep the systems on for the departments that we're still functioning within the courthouse at any given time but then also having new systems being constructed at the same time so having that simultaneous old versus new functioning together, that was the most difficult part of this entire project I would say," Project Architect and Manager Dominika Barszcz said.
"It's amazing to see it come to fruition. You know everyone has worked on this really hard and it really provides a wonderful space for all of our staff for our judges for the community. It's safe it's secured. It's really fantastic," said President Judge Marguerite Patti-Worthington.
The courthouse now has state-of-the-art features like a sallyport for transporting and guiding those in custody, cutting-edge technology for courtrooms, and heated sidewalks for safety.
