TAYLOR, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The holiday season is in full swing as the countdown is underway to Christmas Day.
Hundreds of kids were invited to Lucca's in Taylor for Operation Santa Claus.
The event is normally held at Tobyhanna Army Depot, but the non-profit wanted to make sure schools who had to travel farther could make it.
The event aims to provide children with disabilities the chance to get into the Christmas spirit. The event featured a meet and greet with Santa and Mrs. Claus, music, gifts, and food.
$10,000 grant awarded to the Hazleton Integration Project
"It's just a wonderful warm feeling to see them having a good time, they can be themselves, they're out of the school environment so they could get a little bit more active and they just have a great time. They love seeing Santa. They love dancing with the characters and they're just having a good old day," stated Rose Gesell president of Tobyhanna Operation Santa Claus.
Operation Santa Claus started more than 50 years ago.
