DUNMORE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — PennDOT had an active year in northeastern Pennsylvania wrapping up several big projects.
On Tuesday morning, transportation officials highlighted this year's active and completed projects in District 4, which includes Lackawanna, Luzerne, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne, and Wyoming counties.
Roughly 140 miles of roads were paved and 150 bridges were rehabilitated, repaired, or replaced.

Plus, nearly 540 miles were seal-coated to preserve roadway surfaces.
Looking ahead, roughly $300,000,000 in projects is slated for next year.
"About two-thirds of that is going to be on the interstate so we're finally going to be doing the Gibson interchange in Susquehanna County on Interstate 81. We're going to be doing some other higher-level improvements on 81 in Lackawanna and Luzerne County so we're excited about that," said PennDOT Engineering District 4 Executive Richard Roman.
Statewide more than 5,000 roadway miles were improved and work has advanced on more than 400 state and locally owned bridges.
