SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — As Christmas approaches, local organizations in Lackawanna County are stepping up to ensure that every family experiences the joy of the season.
Local organizations and businesses are making sure families in Lackawanna County have a magical Christmas. Backyard Ale House in downtown Scranton will once again transform into a Christmas haven on Christmas Day, offering free breakfast and gifts to the community
"Nobody wants to be alone on Christmas so it's nice to be able to come here where we serve breakfast, people are able to get coffee, donuts, juices, we get breakfast sandwiches and then they are able to walk around if they have kids, pick a toy anyone and everyone all you have to do is walk through the day and you're welcome here," explained James Bodnar the organizer from Backyard Ale House.

Friends of the Poor's Family to Family Food Basket program is set to distribute hundreds of food packages on the 19th at the Scranton Cultural Center starting at 9:00 a.m. until supplies run out, all free for families
The Salvation Army is ready too, with a food pantry giveaway that requires a quick registration to help families save and celebrate with a nice Christmas dinner.
"We're always looking for ways to help alleviate some of the pains of the economic struggles right now, and so one of the things we can do obviously is our food pantry, where people can come in and at least not have to worry about that for a few days and take that off of their bills if you will so they can put that towards something else," Captain Neil Childs the Salvation.
There's still time to register your family for Toys for Tots the deadline for the single-family application is December 15th. Allowing parents and guardians to get brand new toys for their kids for Christmas
