SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Christmas is a little brighter for struggling kids this year in Lackawanna County.
The annual Gifts for Kids distribution started Sunday at the Byron Recreation Complex in Scranton.
Families could be seen lining up picking gifts from books to toys to winter clothes.
Half of the gifts were donated by the community while the other half from Toys for Tots drives.

The program is a collaboration between Friends of the Poor, Catholic Social Services, and the Catherine McAuley Center.
Their goal this year is to serve 5,000 Lackawanna County children with two toys each on Christmas morning.
"Anything that has to do with kids and volunteering, to see the smiles on their faces, and that just brightens your whole day. As well as it does them, cause, you know, they might be at home, Mom and Dad struggling, and then they come here, and they got a bag full of toys," said James Fink, a volunteer representing Bikers for Justice.
Friends of the Poor is looking for volunteers and that begins with their food distribution on Thursday.
