Preparing for more snowy weather in Pittston Township

PITTSTON TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — PennDOT has crews out across the area helping aid in the preparation for this evening's snowfall.

Workers at the salt storage shed in Pittston Township say they are geared up and prepared for more snowy weather of the season.

PennDOT began sending dozens of trucks out onto the road earlier Sunday afternoon.

Crews at the salt shed say they are following their typical procedures in preventing the snow and ice from sticking to the roads.

Winter advisory in place overnight as temperatures drop

As soon as the snow starts coming down, salting with take priority.

One of the workers, 28/22 News spoke with says his crews are making sure to get a head start and stay prepared.

"What we do is we come in and normally brine the roads ahead of time which aids in the melting of what's going to be coming down and then some of our other guys will come in four hours early," Contractor John Krochmaluk said.

Krochmaluk is reminding drivers to slow down, leave distance between your vehicle and others in front of you, and limit any sudden stops.
