Downtown Scranton buzzing with new businesses

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Downtown Scranton is buzzing with excitement as new businesses open their doors, bringing a fresh vibe to the heart of the city.

With these vibrant additions, downtown Scranton continues to grow as a hub for shoppers and food enthusiasts alike.

Just a short stroll down Washington Avenue you'll find Tachi Hill, a chic new fashion boutique that brings big-city style right to Scranton.

"I wanted to bring something a little bit different you know as well, just the vibes, the music, the display in the store, i think all of that is very important for shoppers. I wanted to bring that. Bring like city feeling to us, to the people in the area," stated Jessica Merritt, owner, Tachi Hill.

One street over on Wyoming Avenue, Picciocchi’s Pasta, a beloved Clarks Summit eatery, is finding a new home here in Scranton.

"We wanted to do something different in downtown Scranton, we wanted to do like a real Italian traditional family restaurant, that's my mentality," explained Stefano Picciocchi, owner of Picciocchi's Pasta.

This family-owned gem is known for its mouth-watering homemade Italian dishes and sauces.

"That you come in here and get an authentic Italian experience, obviously Stefano is gonna come greet you, tell you all about Italian culture, his food, the wines, we have Italian fine wines," said Kristy Picciocchi, owner of Picciocchi's Pasta.

Plus the long-awaited restaurant on Linden Street, A'tera, officially opens Monday night.

"It was 16-hour days, long weeks, but we're here, and we're so excited we can't wait for everybody to come in and show off this beautiful place," stated Sheila Bonanno, director of operations at Basalyga Hospitality.

A'tera is bringing a modern touch and elegant dining to Scranton, promising a first-class experience for anyone eager to enjoy a special meal.

"I love the fact that people can come, dress up, really enjoy coming out, without having to feel like they can't afford it, so our prices are very reasonable, our portions are really nice portions, it's not like which you would expect from fine dining, so I kinda call this that we are refining fine dining," explained Bonanno.

So whether you're in the mood to shop, eat some Italian dishes, or try out a fine dining experience, downtown Scranton is the spot.

Plus for anyone who needs to do some last-minute Christmas shopping, Scranton Tomorrow is hosting a last-minute local event with many small businesses in the area.
