NANTICOKE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police say a mother is being charged with homicide after the death of her one-month-old child.
In October 2022, the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office, and PSP, investigated a death at the 100 block of West Green Street in Nanticoke.
Police say a one-month-old infant died while in the care of her mother 19-year-old Natalee Michele Rasmus. An autopsy report determined the cause of death as asphyxia due to mechanical compression, state police reported.
Man withdrawing from heroin accused of lakeside mayhem
On December 16, Rasmus was arrested for murder of the third degree, involuntary manslaughter, and endangering the welfare of a child.
She remains in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility after she was denied bail.
