Pizza maker with deep ties to NEPA opening new shop

WEST PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A new pizza joint from a familiar owner is expected to open in West Pittston in January 2025.

Pizza runs in the family for Angelo Recchia, who formerly owned Angelo's Pizza in the Viewmont Mall since 2015. But now he is excited to make the move closer to home.

Recchia will soon be opening Luca Pizza at the former B3Q Smokehouse location in West Pittston.

"I always wanted to be part of the community and open a local spot," said Recchia.

Before having his own restaurant, Recchia worked for his father in the Wyoming Valley Mall at Dino's Pizza. Now Recchia is tackling a new challenge, being outside of a mall and having a stand-alone restaurant.

"I'm so used to doing pizzerias in the mall, my dad was always in a mall," said Recchia.

Recchia says they will be serving pizza, pan pizza, sandwiches, salads, wings, bites, and various weekly specials.

Keeping the family in mind, Luca Pizza is named after Recchia's son, Luca.

"Everything I learned goes to my dad," said Recchia.

Luca Pizza is located at 200 Wyoming Avenue in West Pittston and is expected to open on January 13.
