Driver sentenced after crash kills one, injures two

TOWANDA TWP., BRADFORD COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A driver has been sentenced after state police say he hit and killed a man and left two others injured, including the victim's child.

Charles Scott, 39, of Columbia Crossroads, was sentenced to 63 months in state prison to a maximum of more than 20 years on the following charges;

Homicide by motor vehicle while driving under the influence of alcohol

Recklessly endangering another person

Driving under the influence of alcohol

Attempted sex assault suspect dances out of court

According to Pennsylvania State Police, on July 30 around 10:00 p.m., a crash occurred on South Main Street when Scott left his lane and hit a parked car along the shoulder of the roadway.

Police stated Travis Delamater, 39, of Towanda, was outside putting his child in a car seat when the crash occurred. A woman and the four-year-old were near the driver’s side and sustained injuries, PSP said.

Investigators reported that Scott had been drinking at a local bar moments before the collision and a bottle of Yuengling Lager was found outside of Scott's truck on the roadway at the scene.
