PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Brace yourself for plenty of traffic on the Pennsylvania Turnpike as holiday travel gets underway.
PennDOT says it expects 6,500,000 drivers to travel the Turnpike between Friday and New Year's Day.

In fact, Friday is projected to be the busiest day on the Turnpike with 650,000 estimated drivers using the Turnpike system.
Saturday, Monday and the two days after Christmas are each expected to see more than 500,000 drivers on the Turnpike with next Friday expected to top 600,000 drivers.
