Business booming for Dickson City bar as Penn State heads to college playoffs

DICKSON CITY, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Penn State's first time playing the College Football Playoffs means big business for local establishments.

Hundreds of Nittany Lions fans gathered Saturday afternoon at Happy Valley Sports Bar in Dickson City as Penn State hosted Southern Methodist University (SMU.)

Our 28/22 News Videographer Avery Nape described the atmosphere in the bar as "electric" as passionate Penn State fans worked up an appetite for food and beverages.

Crowds hitting Dickson City stores for Super Saturday

"I mean this is a great bar, a great place to come with all the Penn State fans here. A good energy," said RJ Gouldsbury from Throop.

"Oh, it's a great place to watch a game. Me and my friends come here all the time. We have a really great time," said Dunmore resident David Thompson.

The crowd had a really great time Saturday as Penn State defeated SMU.
