DICKSON CITY, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Hundreds of families in need will have new Christmas toys for their children thanks to a community organization.
Patty Lee Hack, founder of Patty Lee's Marvelous Missions, hosted the toy giveaway at the Residence Inn in Dickson City on Saturday.
Families of nearly 800 older kids, and little ones too, got to choose up to five toys each.
"Our bills are so high that money has to go to your rent, your bills, your food, so unfortunately the little things in life like gifts for your kids kind of gets put behind, and that is what we're here to help pick up the slack for them," said Barbara Kearney, a Volunteer with Patty Lee's Marvelous Missions.

Patty Lee's Marvelous Missions has been around for four years, but the toy giveaway is the group's first. It comes as many families are struggling financially.
The effort started when Patty gave out masks during the COVID-19 pandemic.
She used the momentum to continue giving back, leading to the creation of Patty Lee's Marvelous Missions.
Patty Lee's Marvelous Missions announced on Facebook it plans to hold another toy giveaway on Monday.
