Former employees call for investigation into 'high' cancer cases in Lackawanna County

OLYPHANT, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Former employees of several now-defunct Lackawanna County businesses say they are seeing a high number of cancer-related deaths and other illnesses among those employees and are calling for a State Health Department investigation into a possible cancer cluster.

They reached out to then-Congressman Matt Cartwright with their concerns, who requested an investigation by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

The employees worked for Specialty Records, WEA Manufacturing, Cinram, and Technicolor in Olyphant.
