Teen could face charges, allegedly shot himself with stolen gun

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — An 18-year-old could be facing charges after police say he shot himself and is not allowed to carry a weapon.

According to the Wilkes-Barre Police Department, officers were called to North Sherman Street for a shooting victim.

On the scene, officers said they found an 18-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.

Through further investigation, detectives discovered that the victim, who is not allowed to carry a weapon, had shot himself in the leg area, and the gun used was stolen.

The victim was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
