(WHTM) - Penn State tight end Tyler Warren made history during the Orange Bowl, becoming just the fourth tight end with at least 100 receptions in FBS history.
Warren had two catches in the first half for 17 yards in the opening half against Notre Dame to reach the mark.
Warren lined up across the field for the Nittany Lions, including under center at quarterback where he nearly picked up a first down on a broken play.
The 100 catch mark is a continuation of Warren's history-making season for Penn State. He became the all-time leader in receptions, yards, and receiving touchdowns for Penn State tight ends with 147 catches, 1,764 yards, and 19 touchdowns.
Warren finished first among FBS tight ends for total touchdowns with 12.
The winner of the Orange Bowl will face either Ohio State or Texas in the National Championship Game. Penn State has not won a National Championship since 1986.
