WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The storm may be winding down but conditions are still dicey.
While many of us are staying indoors, others are not letting the storm stop them from hitting the roads.
28/22 News Reporter Gianna Galli has been out in the storm since Sunday afternoon.
It was much colder Sunday night than it was during the bulk of the storm.
While it wasn't snowing later Sunday evening in Wilkes-Barre, earlier, when it was coming down, crews were out working to try and keep up with conditions.
Winter storm arrives in PA, temperatues to drop for Monday
Crews are out Sunday night plowing and treating roads, something many have been doing since the afternoon.
Accumulations have been light to moderate.
As the night went on and the snowfall lessened, the roads became less covered.
People were urged all day to avoid the roads and at least drive more cautiously if they had to travel.
28/22 News spoke with Mountain Top resident Jeff Papcaik at the Sheetz in Larksville who says he was driving his son to where he needed to go for the night and did not mind being out in the snowy conditions.
"Over here, the roads were fine but coming down the mountain was a little sketchy. We've always enjoyed the challenge of driving in the snow so we will make the best of it. Five to ten inches of snow is pretty normal for January here," Papcaik said.
PennDOT and the PA Turnpike still have restrictions in effect.
