28/22 NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — The nation and the world were watching the early hours of the second Trump presidency unfold. As with any new administration, there is anticipation, expectations, and questions about what's to come and how it will impact our daily lives.
28/22 News I-Team Reporter Andy Mehalshick recently sat down for an exclusive interview with Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro.
The Trump white house was one of the topics of discussion.
28/22 News asked the governor questions about a wide variety of topics and issues facing the nation and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Of course on that list is what he expects to see from a second Trump presidency and what it could mean to Pennsylvanians.
Mehalshick sat down with Governor Josh Shapiro urging a recent visit by the governor to Lock Haven in Clinton County.
Shapiro says he looks forward to having a working relationship with President Trump.
"I respect the world of people. Two years ago, they chose me to lead this Commonwealth, and just a couple of months ago, they chose President Trump to lead the nation forward and wish him success. Look, his success will be our success. It is my hope that he'll want to help us move forward in Pennsylvania and make critical investments in our economy, in our safety, and many other things. When he wants to help move Pennsylvania forward, I'm certainly going to be a willing partner in that work," Shapiro said.
28/22 News asked the governor about one of President Trump's central campaign pledges to unleash American energy, including natural gas.
Pennsylvania is a world leader in the supply and production of natural gas.
"I'm in all of the above energy governor. I want to make sure we utilize our unique standing here in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania when it comes to energy, we're able to create jobs and economic opportunity, particularly for communities that have been left behind in other economic resurgences," Shapiro continued.

Mehalshick also asked him about the question, the so-called "elephant in the room" question: His political future.
He was in the running for Kamala Harris' VP Selection and is widely viewed as a potential Democratic candidate for president in 2028.
"For you personally moving four years go like this? A run for President?" Mehalshick asked.
"Come on Andy," Shapiro said.
"Some say if you were on the ticket the Democrats may have won the White House. What do you think?" Mehalshick added.
"Look, I love what I do. I'm damn proud of being the 48th Governor of Pennsylvania and I work my tail off and think people see that in Pennsylvania. They see me up in their community working hard I'm putting points on the board for them. I deliver real results. I think they also saw this summer just how much I love this job and how I don't want to leave it," Shapiro continued.
