Police seek gunman in Sugarloaf Township shooting

SUGARLOAF TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are looking for a gunman after a shooting sent one person to the hospital Tuesday night in Sugarloaf Township.

Shortly after 5:30 p.m., Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) say the Sugarloaf Township Police Department was called to the unit block of Merry L Drive for a reported shooting victim.

Troopers say the person was taken to a nearby hospital and their condition is unknown at this time.

State police say the shooter is not in custody at this time.

The PSP Troop N Hazleton Criminal Investigation Unit has assumed the ongoing investigation in conjunction with the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office.

While the incident appears to be isolated, state police remind the community to call 911 immediately if they see anything suspicious.
