LOPEZ, SULLIVAN COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — With temperatures dropping across the region, one town known as "The Icebox of Pennsylvania" saw brutally cold temperatures this week.

It was quite the cold start Tuesday morning where temperatures were near or below zero. Selinsgrove's low-temperature Tuesday morning -14° degrees.
A local weather station registered in Lopez, Sullivan County, also known as "The Icebox of Pennsylvania", recorded a low of -20 degrees.

Highs on Tuesday struggle to climb to the low and mid-teens.
Tuesday night may even be a bit colder, with near and sub-zero low temperatures once again.
Cold Weather Advisories and Extreme Cold Warnings (Carbon and Monroe counties) remain in effect through noon Wednesday. Wind chills at times may reach -10 to -20.
A gradual "warming trend" comes later this week with highs returning to the 20s and 30s.
