Shapiro Administration visits Pittston for Downtown Revitalization

PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Shapiro Administration made a stop in Luzerne County on Tuesday.

The Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Rick Siger joined Mayor Michael Lombardo and other local leaders to tour revitalized Pittston.

The visit highlighted the Shapiro Administration's commitment to investing in Pennsylvania's downtowns and small businesses.

They've invested $3,000,000 to support several revitalization projects in downtown Pittston.

The tour swung by the Kevin Powers Accessible Playground, the Slope Amphitheater, and the site of the Market and Main/New American Theater Project which will soon begin construction.

"Just neat to see the Mayor's vision, the city team's vision come to life here, this is really why I wanted to come, to learn, to highlight Governor Shapiros main street matters program," Siger explained.

The governor secured $20,000,000 in his bipartisan 2024/2025 budget to create the Main Street Matters Program.
