LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Charges against a Lackawanna County man accused of firing a gun inside a home were dropped this week.
The charges against Frank Kleinbauer, 47, of Carbondale were dismissed during a hearing in Lackawanna County court on Tuesday. Kleinbauer was originally charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person back in October of 2024.
According the arrest affidavit, the initial charges stem from an incident back on October 9 when Carbondale police responded to a home in the area of Laurel and Rock streets for a report of a gunshot fired during a fight and one person had run from the area.
Police say they found Kleinbauer and held him for questioning. Kleinbauer, along with two other witnesses were interviewed. All gave different accounts of the event, according to police.
Police say during a search of the home they located a spent shell casing and evidence that a bullet had traveled through a couch and into the wall of the home. The scene was processed by the Pennsylvania State Police Forensic Unit.
