Eight arrested for alleged Walmart theft

HAZLE TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police report that eight people were arrested after being accused of retail thefts at a Walmart in Luzerne County.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, troopers responded to Walmart in Hazle Township for separate retail theft incidents throughout January.

On January 2 around 3:30 p.m., troopers were called to Walmart for a 55-year-old man from Hazleton who under-rang $115.39 worth of food items at the self-checkout. On the same day around 6:30 p.m., state police say a 36-year-old from Drums also under rang several items.

Then on January 11 around 6:00 p.m., a 26-year-old man from Nuremberg was arrested for retail theft worth $79.40.

Police say on January 16 a 43-year-old man from Drifton stole automotive items worth $128.11 and was also found with drugs.

Troopers said on January 22 two women from Hazleton ages 49 and 57, were arrested for failing to pay the full amount for food and clothing items. Later that day around 5:30 p.m., a 20-year-old man from Lake Harmony tried to leave Walmart without paying the full amount for food.

Finally, on January 23 around 9:40 p.m., troopers were called for a 28-year-old woman from Hazleton attempting to steal food, shoes, and cosmetics worth a total of $49.83.

All eight have been charged through the district court.
