Pike County judge facing indecent assault charges

PIKE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Attorney General announced a Pike County-based Magisterial District Judge is facing indecent assault and other related charges.

On Friday, Attorney General Dave Sunday announced in a release 70-year-old Pike County-based Magisterial District Judge Paul Menditto from Bushkill was charged with indecent assault, disorderly conduct, and harassment.

The charges on Friday are in relation to an incident in August at a Milford area barber shop, the release explained.

Menditto was charged with one misdemeanor count of indecent assault and two summary counts regarding the assault of an employee of the shop, according to the attorney general.

He was released on his own recognizance, the release said.

"The alleged conduct is egregious and unlawful for anyone let alone a sworn officer of the court who presides over criminal matters. No one should go to work fearing they will be harassed and assaulted while on the job," Attorney General Sunday said.

Officials say an investigation revealed on August 2, 2024, Menditto was in the barbershop for a haircut when he allegedly kissed an employee on the neck without her consent.

Authorities explained the incident was witnessed by multiple people in the shop.

Deputy Attorney General Rachael Coleman is prosecuting the case, the release said.
