WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Wilkes-Barre murder cold case dating back nearly two decades is still making an impression.
Family and friends gathered Saturday afternoon outside the Luzerne County Courthouse to remember Patricia Morton.
The 35-year-old woman was found shot to death in her Hazle Street home in 2006.
Her loved ones have been holding a vigil every year since her death.
After a prayer, they signed balloons with a message of love in memory of Moreton and released them into the sky.

They hope the next time they come together to remember her, it's to celebrate closure.
"Hopefully next year we can all get together and have a celebration, and talk about memories and laughter and, you know, feeling content in closure for Patty," Patricia's sister Cathy Stephens said.
"Our family's really not that big so everybody matters, you know what I mean, so we all love and care for each other so losing somebody really has a pretty big impact on all of us," said Joseph Cihany, Patricia's nephew.
Investigators consider the Morton homicide case still open. They want anyone with information to call Wilkes-Barre police.
