NEPA native ready to attend Eagles vs. Chiefs game

JESSUP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — While most of us will be watching this weekend’s big game on TV, one man from our region will be in New Orleans.

It’s the Philadelphia Eagles vs. the Kansas City Chiefs - and the entire world is counting down until Sunday's big NFL matchup.

“Philadelphia brings so much excitement. The green, the eagle, such a diehard fanbase. On the other side, you have another great diehard fanbase. A fanbase that’s been accustomed to winning over the years.”

Assault suspect charged with Megan’s Law violation

Jessup local Larry Spegar shows off several of his jersey keepsakes. But for him, these are being packed up as he gets ready to go to his 28th NFL championship game.

“I would urge anyone, whether it’s a bucket list, or like me, if it’s something you really enjoy doing, just do it.”

Growing up an avid football lover His first game dates back to the 1998 season.

“I remember my late uncle even telling me, you love it so much, you came all the way out from Pennsylvania to California to see the Super Bowl and spend so much time there, he goes, ‘You should go every year.’”

Checking off his bucket list, Spegar will be attending his third big game in New Orleans, specifically back in 2013 one memory sticks out.

“What happened is the lights went out, but emergency lighting was on the field, so the players were actually walking around, staying loose, running up and down the sidelines, and then actually coming up closer toward the fans.”

Each experience is a memory, never leaving empty-handed.

We asked for his expert opinion on who will win the big game, but Larry says he hopes for overtime so the game never ended.
