Five pit bulls rescued, traffic stop leads to dog fighting ring delivery scheme

PALMYRA TWP., PIKE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police report a traffic stop led to an alleged dog fighting ring delivery scheme and five pit bulls rescued.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, on February 4 around 8:50 a.m., troopers pulled over a car on Interstate 84 in Palmyra Township, Pike County.

The driver was identified as Edwin Bradley, 41, of Houston, Texas, and troopers said he had glassy and bloodshot eyes. The smell of marijuana was coming from the vehicle and a THC vape was seen leading troopers to believe he was driving under the influence, police reported.

Bradley told troopers that he was driving from Connecticut to Houston with dogs he just picked up.

Police said there were "indicators of criminal activity present" causing a search of the vehicle. Inside PSP stated they found five pit bulls in small cages. Troopers said some of the dogs had open sores, looked malnourished, and bleeding from the mouth.

State police learned Bradley was previously charged three separate times with dog fighting in Texas. Through further investigation, troopers say they learned Bradley is part of a large-scale dog fighting organization in Houston and is a transport man for people who want pit bulls delivered to them for fighting.

The dogs will be transported to Pittsburgh Aviation Animal Rescue and housed at Pennsylvania Society to Prevent Cruelty to Animals.
