MOOSIC, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Lackawanna County announced they will start a large pavement project on Montage Mountain this spring.
The project will repave Montage Mountain Road from the Interstate 81 interchange to the Montage ski resort.
The county will also repave the part of Glenmaura National Boulevard that serves the Shoppes at Montage, the Cinemark movie complex, the adjacent office park, and the entrance road to the William W. Scranton Office Park.

Lackawanna County Commissioners voted to award the $3.575 million contract to Pennsy Supply of Pittston, who submitted the lowest qualifying bid for the work.
The work is expected to begin this spring and does not have a final date yet, but is expected to be done this year.

“This is the first major road infrastructure commitment on the mountain in many years,” said County Commissioner Bill Gaughan. “It will serve commercial businesses, recreation businesses, residents, and the thousands of people who use those roads every year to access PNC Field for RailRiders games, the amphitheater, ski area and water park, offices, shops and theater," continued Gaughan.
In 2026, the county has plans to repave Glennmaura National Boulevard from its intersection with Montage Mountain Road to Route 502 in Moosic.
The commissioners also approved major repairs for the Poplar Street bridge in Mayfield to be done this spring and is expected to be completed this year.
