Man allegedly refuses to leave car after high speed police chase

LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man is facing charges after police say he led them on a high-speed chase in a vehicle he stole from his father.

According to the Wyoming Area Regional Police Department, on February 4 officers were called to Wyoming Avenue for a man taking his father's car without permission. The suspect was identified as Evan Petrosky, 30, of Exeter, and he was headed towards West Pittston.

Police stated they located Petrosky and signaled their lights and sirens to pull him over when he turned onto Exeter Avenue.

According to court records, Petrosky accelerated at a high speed to get away from officers causing a chase to begin. Officers said the chase reached up to 100 mph until Petrosky reached West Pittston where he slowed down on Slocum Avenue for a stop sign.

Multiple police units boxed Petrosky in and when ordered to leave the vehicle, Petrosky refused, as stated in the affidavit. Investigators say Petrosky's refusal led officers to break the glass of the driver's side door to allow them to unlock the car and place him under arrest.

Petrosky has been charged with robbery, fleeing police, reckless driving, and recklessly endangering another person.
