SHAMOKIN, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A Thursday night fire has left four row homes damaged.
According to Northumberland County Communications Center, crews were called to the 200 block of South Shamokin Street just after 7:30 p.m. for a reported structure fire.
When crews arrived on scene, Shamokin Fire Chief Lester Yohe says that they found two homes, 212 and 214 South Shamokin Street, with their rooves on fire.
Yohe states that the fire started on the ground floor, and moved up into the attic. It also spread into the walls of 210 South Shamokin Street, but was put out quickly.
The fire did spread to 216 and 218 South Shamokin Street with both homes sustaining minor damage to their second floors, according to officials.
Yohe says all of the homes were vacant with no one living in them.
Authorities saying the cause if the fire is still being investigated.
