WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say a shooting happened in Wilkes-Barre Monday night and a car fleeing the scene caused a crash and took off, injuring a father and his baby.
On February 10 around 9:00 p.m., officers were called to the 600 block of North Main Street for a crash. Once on the scene, police said the victim was holding his one-year-old child when they were hit by a dark-colored vehicle that had fled the scene.
28/22 News was able to obtain security footage from a nearby business of the incident from Monday night:
Investigators talked with several witnesses who said an argument took place between two men and two people who were inside the car that was part of the hit-and-run. Police said a witness told them that one of the men fired two to three shots at the vehicle.
Man charged with assaulting police during arrest
As the vehicle was fleeing the scene, it struck the victim and his child. Afterward, the two suspects fled the scene on foot, last seen running south on North Main Street.
Both the victim and his child suffered minor injuries and were taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Evidence of gunfire was collected. The investigation is ongoing.
