Clerk accused of stealing $20K of township funds

HANOVER TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say a Hanover Township administrative assistant allegedly stole over $20,000 of township funds for personal use.

According to the Hanover Township Police Department, 47-year-old Stacy Yetter of Nanticoke, used the township Amazon, Staples, Home Depot, and Wex Fuel accounts to make unauthorized purchases from November 2023 to December 2024.

Police stated Yetter spent around $21,140 of township funds, claiming the purchases were utilized for "supplies" for the township.

As stated in the affidavit, when township Manager Sam Guesto notified Yetter of the investigation, she admitted to using township accounts for personal use and apologized.

Yetter was charged with four counts of theft by deception, access device fraud, and tampering with public records. She was released on $100,000 unsecured bail.
