WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Luzerne County District Attorney's Office says that a deadly officer-involved shooting in Wilkes-Barre last year has been ruled justified, according to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department.
According to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department, the officer-involved shooting that happened on October 6th, 2024 was investigated by Pennsylvania State Police and the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office.
The District Attorney’s Office of Luzerne County has ruled that the officer-involved shooting was justified.
24 charged with multi-million bank fraud scheme
Luzerne County District Attorney Sam Sangueldolce stated while responding to a domestic disturbance, officers found the man involved, Omar Jermaine Redditt, at a home on Holland Street. Police approached Redditt with the intent to get his side of the story. At some point during the encounter, Redditt pulled a gun and pointed at police, Sangueldolce reported.
A gunfight ensued and Redditt was shot and killed by police, Sangueldolce told 28/22 News.
