SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Scranton Police have arrested two males in connection with shots fired in Scranton on March 8.
Scranton Police Department, with assistance from the US Marshals Service and the Lackawanna District Attorney' Office has arrested 18-year-old Shamell Fearon and 17-year-old Thomas Richardson in connection with the gunfire that struck a house and put at least 15 people in danger inside the house.
Scranton Police Department says both are members of the "Crips" Street Gang, and being charged as adults.
According to a release by Scranton Police Department, units responded to a report of shots fired on the 400 block of Clay Avenue.
Police investigating stabbing in Luzerne County
Officers spoke with witnesses on-scene who said that they heard a single gunshot.
Preliminary investigation confirmed there was just a single shot fired with no reported injuries or damages, according to officers.
Fearon was taken into custody at his house on the 1200 block of Luzerne Street and charged with Aggravated Assault, Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Structure, and Reckless Endangerment among other charges.
Officials say they were familiar with Fearon from previous crime arrests including firearms and robberies.
Richardson was taken into custody at residence on the 900 block of Madison Avenue and charged with Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault and Conspiracy to Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Structure.
Authorities say they are also familiar with Richardson from a previous violent crime arrest which included a firearm, fleeing and eluding, and Receiving Stolen Property and Escape.
Both were transported to the Lackawanna County Processing Center.
