Family of 'House of Horrors' owner seeks justice for her murder

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The family of a Luzerne County woman who was murdered near Wilkes-Barre a year ago say they are seeking answers and justice for her.

69-year-old Debra Fox was the longtime owner of a house that police describe as a "House of Horrors." The body of another woman was found buried in the basement. The so-called "House of Horrors" is located at 142 Carlisle Street in South Wilkes-Barre.

Debra Fox owned the house for some 40 years. Debra's daughter, Danielle, says they just want to know who killed her and why.

"As time goes on, we're getting no answers, no justice or nothing, no answers from the cops or nothing," Danielle said.

Danielle wants to know who killed her 69-year-old mother, Debra. She owned and lived in the house at 142 Carlisle Street in Wilkes-Barre for some 40 years, the same house that investigators describe as a "House of Horrors."

The body of 38-year-old Nicole Cuevas was found in February of 2024, buried in the basement of the home.

The new owner who bought it at a tax sale was cleaning out the place and made the grisly discovery.

Six people are charged in connection with her torture, murder, and burial.

They are Desiree Linnette, Jason Race, William Wolfe, Sarah Doyle, who is Linnette's daughter, Faith Beamer, and Anthony Dixon.

About a month after Cuevas's body was discovered, Debra's body was found in a wooded area near the North Cross Valley Expressway in Wilkes-Barre. Investigators say Debra's murder is connected to the Cuevas murder investigation, but no one has been charged in Debra's killing.

"Did she have any indication that something very bad was going on here?" 28/22 News I-Team Reporter Andy Mehalshick asked. "Nope, don't think, even think my mom knew, to tell you the truth," Danielle replied.

Good samaritan reflects on rescuing man in deadly fire

Danielle described to 28/22 News when she visited her mother at the house.

"She seemed like she was scared, but she was never alone to tell me anything because Jason was right there behind her."

Charlene Walters lives right next door to 142 Carliese Street and was friends with Debra.

"I hope they find who did it to her. She didn't deserve this at all. She was a kind woman, a giving woman. She didn't deserve what she went through."

The Luzerne County District Attorney has repeatedly said that the Fox murder is connected to the ongoing Cuevas murder investigation at 142 Carlisle Street, and there is yet another dark chapter to this house.

A Wilkes-Barre man says he was kidnapped and tortured in the basement of that same house. He escaped.

Race and Linnete were charged in that case.
