LEWISBURG, UNION COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A 30-hour online fundraising event has just kicked off in central Pennsylvania on Wednesday.
They call it "Raising the Region." It gives people the opportunity to support area nonprofits by helping them raise as much money as possible.
More than 300 nonprofits from Columbia, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Synder, and Union Counties will take part.

"It's an enormous event! A way to get to get all these charities to get all of their people invigorated and do it over 30 hours and get that amount of money. We're shooting for $2,000,000 these 30 hours. That's an incredible amount of money to raise in 30 hours! I congratulate all these people! How about it! Let's do it!" Blaise Alexander with the Blaise Alexander Family Dealership said.
Since it began in 2013, Raise the Region has generated more than 19,000,000 for local nonprofits.
