KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A local library is preserving presidential history. It's in honor to a nationally known presidential historian in our area.
The Hoyt Library in Kingston has dedicated a section of its second floor to Larry Cook.
The Back Mountain presidential historian has always been fascinated with history, in specific presidents and has shaped a career around making them his subject of study.

The Larry Cook Historian Center for Presidential Research holds a collection of books, documents, and archival materials along with access to online databases.
One of the oldest pieces of presidential memorabilia you will find inside is this 1840's saucer of President William Henry Harrison.
Cook is hoping this section can spark interest for many in not only presidential history but American history.
"There's no better way than to get interested in history than be directly exposed to it and then saying wow I want to learn more about this particular president or that particular situation. You can come here and actually hold history in your hand," said Cook.
"Our logo here at the Hoyt Library is access the world so we are letting everyone truly access the world and we want you to start here and go wherever it will take you," added Melissa Werner, Executive Director, Hoyt Library.
Werner says the library has plans to setup an internship program in the near future.
The center is a first of its kind for a public library in pennsylvania.
