DALLAS, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A shortage of school bus drivers is a challenge facing school districts across the commonwealth.
Dallas School District is dealing with a bus driver shortage and is actively looking to recruit drivers. They say regular school routes are not affected.

Instead, it is impacting transportation for extracurricular activities like sports and after-school events.
To help fill the gaps, the district is offering training and support for new drivers, along with competitive pay.
The company also provides full-time benefits to all drivers.
"Obviously it's it's an incredible responsibility to transport children, but it's also an opportunity to participate in children's education in your community. Without bus driver, we don't have students every day," explained Dr. Thomas Duffy, Superintendent, Dallas School District.
"It's great I love it. It's the kids coming in saying good morning to me. I say good morning to them watching them grow up. I've had kids that could barely step a foot onto the step and get into the bus and now there are some of them are married and have kids on their own," added Christine Manzella, Bus Driver, Dallas School District.
