NANTICOKE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The investigation into a firebombing at the office of a state lawmaker in Luzerne County is moving forward, so says the Police Chief.

PA State Representative’s office firebombed

"I'm confident an arrest will be made in this firebombing". Those are the words of Nanticoke Police Chief Michael Roke regarding the investigation into a firebombing last month at the offices of a state lawmaker in Luzerne County.

It was caught on camera at the offices of State Representative Alec Ryncavage (R) in Nanticoke.

We know that police have spoken to numerous people including some potential suspects, and I'm told so called "High-tech evidence" could be the key factor in an arrest.

The firebombing took place on the night of February 19 at around 11:30 p.m.

The man lights two objects and throws them at the front of the offices of State Representative Alec Ryncavage's offices. The building sustained minor damage, a few burn marks and stains. The act was captured by a security camera on the building.

"We had taken some evidence to the crime labs. We're waiting on some results from that. We're waiting on some digital evidence and doing some search warrants. We're moving along with the investigation, although it's taking some time," explained Chief Michael Roke, Nanticoke Police Department.

"Do you think you might recognize that guy, can you say," asked Mehalschick.

"Actually we're not going to go that far to say we recognize someone or not, but we did send the video out to get enhanced. We're waiting on that to come back also," said Chief Roke.

Chief Roke says they have interviewed people, some of whom could be considered suspects. Although he would not go as far as to call anyone person a suspect at this point in the investigation.

"We've spoken with several people on the investigation including doing some video dumps of neighboring businesses and everything else. We've been in contact with quite a few people in the investigation," stated Chief Roke.

And what does State Representative Alec Ryncavage think about the yet unidentified fire bomber?

"There is an individual in our community that is hurting. He needs this help, and we hope the community can work together with the authorities so we can get this individual and get them the help they need," voiced Rep. Ryncavage.

Chief Roke is urging anyone who might have information about this firebombing to contact Nanticoke City Police. We will stay on top of the case and have more in the days ahead.
