7th Annual Electric City Reptile Expo slithers back to NEPA

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A scaly spectacle took over downtown Scranton on Sunday. Hundreds gathered at the Hilton for the Seventh Annual Electric City Reptile Expo.

Roughly five dozen vendors and more than 130 tables were displayed, featuring everything from snakes and lizards to turtles and reptile supplies.

Visitors had the chance to buy, sell, and learn about these unique creatures, while organizers aimed to bust the myth that reptiles cannot be affectionate.

"It's awesome. I did not realize that there were that many people that enjoy snakes and reptiles in general, and it's really cool," event attendee Diane Sneed said.

"I love all animals, but I realize that everybody does cats and dogs, no one wants to do the scaly friends and the creepy crawleys, so I figured, why not?" Alicia Casey with K's Krazy Critters Reptile Rescue stated.

The event runs three times a year.

The next shows are set for July 6 and November 16 in Scranton, and organizers say they may expand their expo into Wilkes-Barre.
