Storm damage spotted across NEPA

(WBRE/WYOU) — With heavy winds and power outages, many are seeing damage across the Keystone State.

Heavy winds are to blame for downed power lines, backed-up traffic, and closed businesses in Lackawanna County.

Just off the O'Neil highway in Dunmore was where a pole and powerlines have been stripped down.

The pole and powerlines came down around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, and police tell 28/22 News they landed on two cars.

Officials say one woman needed to be checked out by EMS, but she is okay.

Fire crews and PPL are working on the scene as Dunmore Police are out directing traffic.

Several nearby businesses, restaurants, and gas stations have all lost power here in this section of Dunmore.

Police tell 28/22 News they expect it to be out in this area for at least the remainder of the night.

The Dunmore area wasn't the only area hit.

Over in Luzerne County, winds collapsed a building into pieces in Avoca on 722 Mill Street. It appears to be abandoned at this time.
