PLAINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A popular Wyoming Valley band was out spreading the luck of the Irish at several local bars and restaurants on Monday.
Playing Irish and Celtic music, members of the Wyoming Valley Pipe and Drum Band have been delighting audiences for 17 years with their charming and upbeat performances.
"The green, the people everything about it I love it. It's my favorite holiday. I love St. Patrick's Day," said Pittston Township resident James Herron.
"We love Entertaining the people and the people love us we like when the people smile and jump around with us," Butch Modzelcwski on Bagpipes said.
"This means a lot to the community because within our community we have a very proud Irish heritage. We have a very big Celtic heritage," Molly Rosencrans with the Plains Township American Legion stated.

"We like to see the bagpipers and the drummers. They do a great job and every year we try to find a spot where they're gonna be at and catch them," Don Marsh from Trucksville explained.
"We have so many veterans within the community and they do so many of the anthems for each branch and whatnot and it just brings everything together and ties everything into just such a good time and it's just heartwarming," Rosencrans added.
The band practices every Thursday at the Plains American Legion.
They play multiple nights every weekend throughout the Saint Patrick's season.
