Selinsgrove man sentenced to 25 years in prison for child porn

SNYDER COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Selinsgrove man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for possessing and disseminating child pornography.

District Attorney Heath W. Brosius announced the sentencing of 25-year-old Robert Bowen III from Selinsgrove by President Judge Hackenberg on Monday.

Officials say Bowen was sentenced to 25 years in a State Correctional Facility for charges connected to the possession and dissemination of child pornography.

Using his cell phone, authorities explain Bowen accessed child pornography in June and December 2023 and used Facebook Messenger and Telegram to retrieve and send the images.

Officials say during the commission of the crimes, Bowen was on Adult Probation with Snyder County for Indecent Assault, which was a Megan's Law/SORNA offense requiring registration.

"President Judge Hackenberg also determined that Mr. Bowen would be classified as a Sexually Violent Predator and would be required to register with Megan`s Law/SORNA for the duration of his life," District Attorney Brosius stated.

Snyder County District Attorney’s Office says Bowen pled guilty to the child pornography charges and was sentenced according to Pennsylvania's mandatory sentencing statutes for those convicted of Megan's Law/SORNA offenses.

"I want to thank the Pennsylvania State Police, Snyder County Adult Probation and the Northeast Computer Crimes Unit for sharing information and working together so efficiently to bring about this conviction," District Attorney Brosius added.
