Two dead, shooting heard during 911 call

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Two people are dead after a shooting that occurred in Monroe County.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, on Monday, March 17, around 10:15 p.m., a female called 911. Troopers stated the caller was crying while an unnamed man could be heard screaming in the background.

Police respond to Wilkes-Barre crash

During the call, police say multiple gunshots could be heard.

Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Heritage Boulevard in Hamilton Township, where they discovered 36-year-old Robert Okie and 35-year-old Cheryl Okie, both with gunshot wounds.

The Cheryl was pronounced dead at the scene, while Robert was taken to a hospital where he was later declared deceased.

Police are currently investigating the deaths.
