SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Family and friends said a final goodbye Friday to a beloved Scranton firefighter who lost his battle with cancer following a courageous fight.
Funeral services for Lieutenant Kelly "Hoppy" Hopkins were held at Saint Peter's Cathedral Friday morning.
The 40-year member of the Scranton Fire Department died on Sunday after battling esophageal cancer.

Hopkins was known for his dedication to duty, camaraderie with the community, and infectious spirit that shined throughout the Electric City.
"We're feeling heartbreak in one respect but we are at peace because there's no more suffering," said Assistant Chief Jeff White, Scranton Fire Department.
"Every single step of the way he was not giving up without a fight," explained Jennelle Hopkins, daughter of Lt. Kelly Hopkins.
"He was always there for me no matter what and he was just that guy," said Katie Hopkins, daughter of Lt. Kelly Hopkins.
Lieutenant Hopkins was 63 years old.
