Olyphant man arrested for allegedly shooting ex

LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A man has been arrested in connection with an alleged shooting on March 9.

According to a release by Scranton Police Department, 27 year-old Claude Harris from Olyphant was arrested on multiple counts of Felony Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and Criminal Conspiracy.

Police investigate gunfire in Hazleton

Scranton Police say that on March 9, a shooting occurred along the 1800 block of Lafayette Street resulting in a non-fatal injury to a woman while she was standing alongside several other people .

Officials say Harris allegedly shot her following a series of threats stemming from a custody dispute.

Harris was taken into custody on March 21 by Scranton Police.

Harris is currently on PA State Parole following a 2021 arrest by the Scranton Police Department where he was charged and convicted on Felony Possession with Intent to Deliver and Possession of a Firearm, according to the release.

Harris was transported to the Lackawanna County Justice Center for arraignment and processing.
