Taking a swing at golf course in All 'Fore' Books Mini Golf Classic event

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — From the great outdoors to indoors for some golf fundraising fun. The Osterhout Free Library in Wilkes-Barre was the place to be for the Sixth Annual All "Fore" Books Mini Golf Classic event.

More than 100 people signed up to take a swing at the 18-hole course in this family-friendly spin on classic golf fundraisers.

All proceeds support children's programs and early literacy outreach at the library on South Franklin Street.

"These fundraising events really help us close our budget out, keep the library open, keep all our programs free for the community, keep all of our services free for the community, and the doors open. We wouldn't be able to do it without these big fundraising events throughout the year," Osterhout Free Public Library Director of Development and Community Relations Michelle Riley said.

"It's a fun event that's like unique, like, it doesn't happen a lot, so when there's a fun unique event I want to go to it, and I really like it," said 12-year-old participant from Dallas Julia Gibbon.

The Wilkes-Barre Rotary Club sponsored the mini-golf fundraiser.

They hoped to top last year's total of $8,600 raised.
