Mother accused of injuring infant son

WRIGHT TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Investigators are charging a mother after she allegedly injured her 4-month-old son at her home in Luzerne County.

According to the Wright Township Police Department, officers were called for a domestic dispute that involved Jazmine Clapper, 20, of Tennessee, who investigators later learned had an ongoing case with the Luzerne County Children & Youth Services.

Police say Clapper's fiancée stated that in November 2024, Clapper was acting "very angry" and would act aggressively towards their 4-month-old son. As stated in the affidavit, Clapper was seen on a baby monitor "grabbing the victim violently by the collar, jerking him awake."

The victim was taken to Geisinger Wyoming Valley for a medical exam, where a CT scan showed a skull fracture, a pinky finger fracture, and a fracture on his right heel, detectives reported.

In January, Clapper was issued a protection-from-abuse order for the protection of her son.

Clapper has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, aggravated assault, and other related offenses.
