Wilkes-Barre coffee shop still brewing after burglary

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A local coffee shop was broken into, but they say they are still brewing. The owners at Abide Coffeehouse in Downtown Wilkes-Barre say someone kicked in their office door and stole hundreds of dollars.

Security footage shows someone in the business just before 2:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The person looked behind the counter before making their way to the office, where they pried open the door and stole money.

The owners say no one was hurt, and police are investigating.

While the money lost isn't detrimental, the owner says it will still take a toll.

"Being a small business, every dollar counts, so taking half a day's worth of our sales in cash, like that, definitely does affect us," said Abide Coffeehouse Co-owner Austin Shission.

Abide's owners say they are grateful for the support the community continues to show them, and they are even running some specials as a way to say thanks.
